This week on Chatham County Roundup, join Aaron Keck for a conversation with Chapel Fowler, sports reporter for the Chatham News + Record, as they discuss what’s been happening lately in local sports, from Tar Heel baseball superfan Albert Tally to Northwood High School long-snapping star Jake Mann’s recent commitment to Florida State.
“That’s a rarity in this county, for people to go Power-Five athletics-wise,” said Fowler. “So this is a pretty big deal. Jake is going to be a long snapper at Florida state next fall, and he’s a consensus five-star recruit. One service has him as the number-one long snapper in the country and he chose Florida State over Virginia, Arizona State and UNC Charlotte. So, he’s going to be a preferred walk-on there, which is pretty usual for special teamers at a college level, but he’s going to have a really good chance to start.”
Listen below for the full conversation, and tune in weekly for conversations about Chatham County happenings, people, news and more.
