What is professional attire for networking?

In-person networking is a core staple of business-to-business development and sales, but sometimes it can be hard to choose what to wear to a networking event.

In most cases, the dress code is slightly more formal than a casual happy hour, but not quite to the level of attending a wedding. If you have questions, don’t worry – you’re not alone.

For men, a tie is a great way to elevate a business casual look to a formal one.

Solid colors such as black, navy blue, and grey are great staples for your wardrobe, combining with trending colors such as Lavender, Robin’s Eggs Blue, and Green.

Women might consider a business suit or knee-length dress with a jacket for these types of occasions. To modernize your wardrobe, wearing a jumpsuit can be an excellent choice.

Accessories and jewelry add a statement to your wardrobe and are an effective way to express your personality and style along with your professionalism. Let your jewelry draw people in.

Try to choose accessories like earrings or necklaces that make style statements and keep the focal point on your face. Another thing to keep in mind is that handbags, watches, bracelets can be a great starting point for a conversation.

And remember – if you still have questions, one idea is to call the establishment manager to ask if there is a dress code for the restaurant or event.
