Get your paws ready for the pool, as the Orange County Annual Dog Swim is coming back for a 14th year!
Slated for Saturday, September 8, the dog swim will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. at the A.D. Clark Pool – located at the Hargraves Community Center.
The annual event, organized by the Orange County Animal Services Department, allows dog owners the chance to not only bond with their dogs, but with other residents as well.
“Dogs come to swim, and we provide frisbees and tennis balls for them to play with,” said Julia Herman, Assistant Recreation Supervisor for Aquatic programs at the Chapel Hill’s Parks & Recreation, in a press release.
With proof of residence, dogs from Orange County will be permitted to swim with a $10 contribution from their owners, and dogs from other counties are welcome for a $15 entry fee. Keep in mind that there will be no human swimming allowed at the event, with handlers only allowed to help dogs out of the water.
Please ensure that any dogs you plan on bringing to the swim are current on their vaccinations, not in season and leashed when entering the event.
For more information, contact Julia Herman, Assistant Recreation Supervisor for Aquatic programs, at jherman@townofchapelhill.org or (919) 968-2842.
