State Minimum Limits: what are they, and why should you avoid them?
In the state of North Carolina the state minimum limits are 30/60/25. This means $30,000 per person, $60,000 per accident for Bodily Injury, and $25,000 Property Damage. Think about that a minute. Injuries in a car accident are hard to determine, but property damage is not. How much is a new car these days? If you have these low limits and get into an accident where you cause another vehicle to be totaled (wrecked beyond repair), is that enough property damage? What if you cause an accident where more than one vehicle is involved? If you own anything, especially your home you need your limits to be at least 100/300/100. This also leads me to mention that you can get way higher limits, even 500/500/100. You can also purchase an umbrella policy that will cover above and beyond the limits of both your home and auto policies. For more information email tpotter@aai4u.com.
