I’m Aaron Keck, this is Live and Local, and it’s time for the Yep Roc Artist of the Week. Today we have Daddy Long Legs who is bringing savagery and sophistication on their upcoming Yep Roc debut, Lowdown Ways. The 12 original tracks punch a hole in the 21st Century landscape, both sonically and spiritually. Their dirty blues and devastation boogie are a no-holds-barred attack that redefine American roots for a new generation of lo-fi punks and suave aficionados alike. Lowdown Ways features instantly memorable tunes such as “Pink Lemonade” “Ding Dong Dang” and “Bad Neighborhood,” which resonate with the down-and-dirty roots that have always been Daddy Long Legs’ inspiration. At the same time, the band also ventures successfully into unfamiliar territory with the pub-rock-style “Winners Circle,” the bittersweet acoustic ballad “Back Door Fool” and the dramatic album-closer “Wrong Side of the River.” Catch them live on June 20th when they take the stage at The Pinhook in Durham. And now, here’s “Pink Lemonade” from Daddy Long Legs’ new album Lowdown Ways.
