This week we’re putting the spotlight on America’s favorite masked surf rock group Los Straitjackets. Over their 20-year career, the group has released 16 studio albums, two live albums and toured the world with El Vez, Dave Alvin, The Reverend Horton Heat, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Big Sandy and Nick Lowe, who the group is currently touring alongside and just collaborated with on his new Love Starvation/Trombone EP.
The group recently took their talents to TV Land on Channel Surfing, which was just released on June 21 on Yep Roc Records. Adding their high-energy rock and roll instrumental prowess to some of television’s most memorable theme songs, the four-song EP includes renditions of The Andy Griffith Show, Ken Burns’ The Civil War, a medley of Dancing With The Stars and Sex and the City and, perhaps most notably, Game of Thrones, as the Los Straitjackets cover of the theme song to the hit HBO show was featured as the main title theme on the show’s final season this year.
Be sure to visit Yep Roc dot com to order your copy of Channel Surfing today and now, here’s the lead track off the EP, none other than the cover that made its way onto the worldwide phenomenon. Here’s “Game of Thrones” as performed by Los Straightjackets.
