This week’s Yep Roc Artist Spotlight is Canadian rock band Sloan! They got their start in their home country of Canada in the ‘90s but have been recording with Yep Roc Records since 2008. They put out their twelfth studio album, unironically titled “12,” in 2018. All of Sloan’s band members are prolific songwriters and this album showcases each of their lyrical and melodic talents in stunning fashion. Unlike many rock bands, Sloan’s member lineup has not changed after all these years, meaning all of the band members are original. The music for their song “The Day Will Be Mine” has been written and rewritten for almost 20 years but didn’t find its lyrics until the album “12.”  When discussing the significance of making the album, Yep Roc writes, “They’re arguably the only band to make it to their 12th album with four original members who are both equally prolific songwriters and all still working at the top of their respective games, sounding utterly ageless in the process.”  If you want to catch Sloan live, make sure to get your tickets to see them at the Cat’s Cradle Back Room on February 23rd!
