Trending today: theater attendance is back to pre-pandemic levels – but the number of actual shows to see is way down. There are only 59 percent as many shows today as there were in 2019, making it harder for new actors and playwrights to break into the business and get on stage. (A variant of “shrinkflation,” Victor says – that phenomenon where the cost of a product doesn’t change, but the amount you receive is a little bit less.)
