Today, Aaron chats with State Sen. Graig Meyer about the latest issues at the General Assembly – beginning with a much-discussed but little-understood bill loosening regulations for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. (The bill has lots of sponsors from both parties, but there’s not much apparent consensus on what it would actually do. Meyer – who opposes the bill – says it’s an example of an organization flexing its political clout to get favorable legislation.)

Meyer also discusses a recent report that Republicans may be nearing agreement on a 12-week abortion ban, saying GOP lawmakers are actually still at odds with each other – and that public opinion is strongly against any additional restrictions. He also addresses budget talks, workers’ rights, and the recent spate of “stupid” anti-LGBTQ bills in Raleigh.
