The Chapel Hill Public Library is hosting an event called “Opening Our Future” on Friday, remembering the “Chapel Hill Nine” – high school students who conducted a sit-in at the Colonial Drugstore to push for racial integration.
Aaron spoke with Susan Brown and Molly Luby of the Chapel Hill Public Library, as well as Danita Mason Hogans. Hogans is the daughter of Dave Mason of the Chapel Hill Nine; she spearheaded the creation of the Historic Civil Rights Commemorations Task Force, which led to the “Opening Our Future” initiative.
