Following the mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida, last year, Gov. Cooper convened a special committee on school shootings to investigate the issue and make recommendations.

Earlier this month, the committee released its report, with 33 recommendations including better training for SROs, additional funding for mental health services, and a “red flag” law allowing judges to temporarily take guns from those deemed to be a threat to themselves or others.

Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood was on the committee. He joined Aaron on WCHL this week, along with Orange County Schools superintendent Dr. Todd Wirt.
