This month, Aaron welcomes singer-songwriter Abigail Dowd, who’ll be speaking and performing at Flyleaf Books Wednesday, October 28. Dowd will be exploring the “Ethnography of a Song,” beginning at 6 p.m. Ethnography refers to an approach to anthropological study, where a researcher will immerse themselves into an unfamiliar culture, without judgment, to try to completely understand it as much as possible; Dowd says that approach can also help in songwriting, when you try to adopt a different perspective or point of view – or, for that matter, when you’re trying to fully articulate your own.
