Also: Orange County Commissioners finalize a budget plan for the coming fiscal year, with a 4.22-cent property tax increase, a 4.5 percent per-pupil increase in school spending, and a three-year phaseout of county funding for the Chapel Hill Public Library; Hillsborough’s town board gears up for a final vote on their own budget, with a slight tax increase to shore up funds for future years; and UNC deletes a tweet that simply read “The Tar Heels are for everyone” because of a policy barring UNC from taking a stand on “political and social issues.”
And in sports: UNC baseball gears up for the NCAA super regional, beginning today in Boshamer Stadium; and the Carolina Hurricanes come from behind to even the Stanley Cup Final at one game apiece.
