
Jimmy Donaldson, known on YouTube and other social media as MrBeast, will be holding a $10,000 giveaway for UNC students at the next men’s basketball game vs. USC Upstate at the Dean Smith Center on Dec. 13.
According to the program, MrBeast will make an appearance at halftime, then conduct the giveaway after the conclusion of the game. No details have been given as to the nature of the giveaway. Entrants must be UNC students to be eligible.
MrBeast connected with the men’s basketball program during the offseason, taking a picture on campus with star freshman Caleb Wilson in early October.
MrBeast is a North Carolina native, having been raised in nearby Greenville. His main YouTube channel has more than 452 million subscribers, making it the most popular on the site. In June, The Economic Times estimated his net worth to be $1 billion.
UNC’s game against USC Upstate is scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Tar Heels are 8-1 overall this season.
