A pair of goals from Martin Vician helped the UNC men’s soccer team to a 3-0 victory over UNC-Wilmington in Chapel Hill on Tuesday night.

Vician struck early, scoring after just 6:05 to give UNC the early advantage. His second goal came nine minutes into the second half, once again off an assist from Quenzi Huerman. Huerman did the deed himself in the 74th minute to push Carolina’s lead to 3-0. The Tar Heels have now scored at least three goals twice in six matches this season after doing so only once in all of 2022.

Vician and Huerman’s goals came amid a concerted offensive effort in the second half. After the Seahawks outshot Carolina 6-5 in the first half, UNC finished with an 8-3 advantage in the second.

At 3-0-3, the Tar Heels are now unbeaten in their first six matches of the season. It’s the team’s longest such streak since 2015, when the team went unbeaten in its first 12 matches. Ironically enough, that run also included a 3-0 home win against UNC-Wilmington.

The Tar Heels will be back in action on Saturday night at 7 p.m. when they host No. 11 Duke at Dorrance Field.
