Following dominant performances in Carolina’s 35-11 win at Florida State, running back Omarion Hampton and defensive lineman Beau Atkinson were named the ACC’s Players of the Week at their positions on Monday.

Hampton paced the UNC offense against the Seminoles, accounting for a career-high 265 total yards and five touchdowns. The star junior amassed 172 yards and four touchdowns on the ground while adding another 93 yards and a touchdown as a receiver. In the process, Hampton surpassed 3,000 rushing yards for his career and moved into seventh place on Carolina’s all-time rushing list.

Atkinson led a suffocating effort by the Tar Heel defense, racking up 3.5 of the team’s seven sacks of Seminole quarterbacks. Atkinson totaled 4.5 tackles for loss and tied a career high with five tackles. The sophomore has now registered back-to-back games with multiple sacks for the first time in his young career.

Atkinson, Hampton and the rest of the Tar Heels will be back in action after a bye week on Saturday, November 16 when they host Wake Forest at Kenan Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
