Two UNC women’s basketball stars earned all-conference honors from the ACC on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Deja Kelly was named first team All-ACC, while fellow senior Alyssa Ustby earned second team honors.

It’s the third year in a row Kelly has earned first team All-ACC honors. The shot-making guard from San Antonio led Carolina and ranked eighth in the ACC with 16.8 points per game this season and became just the 11th player in program history to reach 1,800 career points. She also led the team in minutes per game (35.8) and led the league in free throws attempted (220) and made (156).

Ustby is making her third consecutive appearance on an All-ACC team after being named first team as a junior and second team as a sophomore. Ustby stuffed the stat sheet all season long for the Tar Heels, ranking in the ACC’s top 10 in rebounds per game (9.5, fourth in the league and first on UNC), field goal percentage (47.7, sixth), blocks per game (1.33, ninth), steals per game (1.77, tied for 10th) and assists (3.6 per game, 10th in the league and first on UNC). She recorded the first triple-double in program history with 16 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists against Syracuse on January 4.

Kelly, Ustby and the rest of the Tar Heels will begin play in the ACC Tournament in Greensboro on Thursday against No. 9 seed Miami. Carolina is the No. 8 seed in the field.
