The UNC women’s tennis program is back at No. 1 in the latest ITA Coaches Poll following its fourth consecutive national indoor championship earlier this week. Carolina began the year ranked No. 2, but ascended to the top spot after former No. 1 Texas lost in the ITA quarterfinals.
Carolina received all 12 first-place votes. Texas A&M and Georgia, who the Tar Heels beat in the ITA semifinals and finals respectively, come in at No. 2 and No. 3 in the new poll. No. 8 Duke, No. 10 NC State, No. 14 Virginia and No. 16 Miami are the rest of the ACC’s representatives.
The Tar Heels spent much of last season in the No. 1 spot in the ITA poll, entering the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed before falling in the Final Four to Texas, the eventual national champion.

In addition, both Anika Yarlagadda and Reese Brantmeier received honors from the ACC for their performances. Yarlagadda was named the Co-Player of the Week and Brantmeier was named Freshman of the Week. Yarlagadda won three of four singles matches during Carolina’s run to the title, while Brantmeier partnered with Elizabeth Scotty to capture the doubles point in the final against Georgia.
