Carolina made 13 three-pointers – including seven in the fourth quarter alone – as the Tar Heels cruised past Pittsburgh on the road Sunday afternoon, 75-58. It’s UNC’s fourth consecutive win.

Lexi Donarski continued her strong run of play with a team-high 15 points. Her five made threes gave her 10 in her last two games combined; prior to that, Donarski had only made 10 across her previous six games combined. Freshman Lanie Grant added 13 points off the bench (including three made threes) while Indya Nivar scored 12. Nivar also finished with eight rebounds, a team-high five assists and a career-high seven steals.

The Tar Heel defense limited the Panthers to just 21-60 (35 percent) shooting, marking the fourth straight game and 14th overall this season a UNC opponent has shot worse than 40 percent from the field. Carolina also dominated the rebounding battle, 49-36, and allowed only eight offensive rebounds to the Panthers, a season low for UNC in ACC competition. The Tar Heels’ Maria Gakdeng finished with 14 rebounds, a season high for the senior and two off tying her career high.

Carolina never trailed in the game and led by as many as 30 points at 72-42 late in the fourth quarter.

The win improves Carolina to 17-3 overall and 5-2 in ACC play. UNC is now 3-0 on the road against ACC opponents, its best such start since the 2013-14 season. The Tar Heels will be back in action when they host Wake Forest at Carmichael Arena on Thursday at 7 p.m.
