Carolina’s first- and potential second-round game will be played in Columbus, OH, and hosted by No. 3 seed Ohio State. The Buckeyes will face No. 14 seed James Madison — who Carolina defeated on the road in November — in their first-round game. The top seed in the Seattle 3 region is ACC champion Virginia Tech.
The Tar Heels enter the tournament with a 21-10 record and 11-7 mark in ACC play. UNC defeated six ranked teams during the season, with two of those games coming on a neutral court.
This is the third consecutive season Carolina has made the NCAA Tournament under head coach Courtney Banghart. UNC was a No. 7 seed in 2021 and a No. 5 seed in 2022, when it reached the Sweet 16. UNC entered the evening with hopes of potentially hosting tournament games at Carmichael Arena for the first time since 2015, but that will not happen this season.
A tip-off time for Carolina’s opening game has yet to be announced. For a full look at the bracket, click here.
