A pair of UNC women’s tennis stars were recognized Monday with Regional Awards by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, as Sara Daavettila was named the Carolina Regional Senior Player of the Year and Cameron Morra was named the region’s Player to Watch.

Daavettila was the winner of the 2019 ITA Fall Singles National Championship and was named an All-American in both singles and doubles competition.

Morra won th ITA Carolina Regional singles championship and earned ITA All-America honors as a singles competitor.

The duo finished the shortened season ranked No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, in the ITA singles rankings.

As a team, the Tar Heels were 18-0 and ranked No. 1 in the country at the time the season was canceled by the coronavirus pandemic.
