The ACC released its annual All-Academic Field Hockey team on Friday, placing six of head coach Karen Shelton’s Tar Heels among the mix.
Juniors Ashley Hoffman and Malin Evert headline the group of UNC players chosen, while fellow junior Morgan Goetz joined sophomores Marissa Creatore and Feline Guenther–plus freshman Meredith Sholder–as first-time All-Academic selections.
It’s Evert’s third All-Academic honor and Hoffman’s second.
In order to be selected to the All-ACC Academic Team, players must have a 3.0 grade point average in their most recent semester and at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA throughout their collegiate careers.
Achievements on the field are also considered. Each of the six Tar Heels selected played key roles for a team that won the ACC championship and reached the Final Four for a ninth consecutive year.
Each of the league’s seven teams was represented on the roster, with Duke’s eight selections leading the way.
Louisville’s Nicole Woods was named the ACC Field Hockey Scholar Athlete of the Year.
