After taking to Twitter on Monday in search of an opponent, the UNC men’s basketball team will now host Northeastern for a non-conference game on Wednesday.
The team announced the new opponent Monday night, and shared the tip-off time of 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Tar Heels were originally slated to take on Virginia Tech on Tuesday, but COVID-19 issues within the Hokies’ program forced that game to be postponed.
As a result, UNC went looking for a new opponent willing to come play at the Smith Center since the Tar Heels have played just six of their 19 games at home this season.
UNC will enter the game with a 12-7 overall record, while Northeastern sits at 9-7. Wednesday will be the second time the two programs have played, with Carolina winning the match-up in 1991 NCAA Tournament 101-66.
