The UNC baseball team got off to a good start with a 2-1 series win over UCLA in Los Angeles.
That performance has launched the UNC baseball team into the top ten of the D1Baseball.com poll. The Tar Heels made the biggest jump in the poll.
Going into the first weekend of the 2016 season, the Tar Heels were ranked No. 16 in the poll. UCLA was No. 11.
On Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles, the Tar Heels showcased their brand new offense– UCLA 14-5 in the series clincher. On Friday, Carolina won 4-0. UNC dropped their game against UCLA on Saturday, 5-6. It was the only series of the weekend to feature two top 25 teams.
UCLA dropped to No. 14 in the D1Baseball.com poll.
Six ACC teams rank in the top 25. Louisville is No. 2, Miami is No. 6, NC State is No. 8,Virginia is No. 11, and Florida State is No. 18.
Florida remains at the top spot of the poll.
UNC will begin its home schedule next weekend at Boshamer Stadium with another grueling series, this one against No. 12 Oklahoma State.
