The UNC baseball team finished up its second mid-week game against an in-state opponent with a victory on Wednesday over the Elon Phoenix.
The Tar Heels improved to 14-2 on the season with the 11-6 win on Wednesday in Chapel Hill.
UNC got out to a big 9-2 lead before the Phoenix clawed their way back to a 9-6 game in the sixth inning.
Carolina scored a couple of insurance runs, and Taylor Sugg worked three scoreless innings to secure the nine-out save.
The Tar Heels are back in Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend with a series against the Duke Blue Devils. The series, starting at six o’clock Friday night, will be played at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The series will be broadcasted live on WCHL.
