The Tar Heels will throw the first pitch of the 2016 regular season at 9 p.m. ET in Los Angeles.
Junior Zac Gallen is scheduled to start the first game of a three-game series against UCLA.
Gallen went 4-3 last season with a 2.79 ERA.
The Tar Heels begin this season in an unfamiliar place. They are unranked in Baseball America’s preseason top 25. However, have been ranked as high as 16 in other polls.
They look to replace a number of productive veterans, including outfielder Landon Lassiter, catcher Korey Dunbar, and pitchers Benton Moss and Trent Thornton, who have moved on to the professional level.
Coach Mike Fox is expected to turn to a pair of sophomores to round out his starting rotation.
Right handers J.B. Bukauskas and Jason Morgan are scheduled to take the mound on Saturday and Sunday.
The Tar Heels will be back in Chapel Hill next Friday for their home opener against Oklahoma State.
