Entering Friday’s showdown in South Bend against Notre Dame–which was also its ACC opener–the UNC volleyball team was on its first two-match winning streak of the season after losing seven of its first eight outings to begin the year.

That streak came to a halt quickly, as the Fighting Irish rolled to a 3-0 (23-25, 24-26, 20-25) sweep over head coach Joe Sagula’s Tar Heels.

Each of the first two sets were closely contested, but it was Notre Dame that was able to take the match’s most important points–improving its record to 8-3 this season. UNC, meanwhile, fell to 3-8 with the loss.

Lauren Harrison was UNC’s only player with double-digit kills, posting a team-high 13.

The Tar Heels had a hitting percentage of .150, which was not enough when compared to Notre Dame’s .233 mark in the same category.
