UNC junior forward Luke Maye was announced Wednesday as the winner of this year’s Skip Prosser Award, which is given annually to the ACC’s top scholar-athlete in men’s basketball.

The award is named after former Wake Forest head coach Skip Prosser, who died back in July 2007.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must be an upperclassman with a grade point average of 3.0 or better–both for their collegiate careers and over the past two semesters.

Maye is currently enrolled in UNC’s prestigious Kenan-Flagler Business School studying business administration. He holds a GPA of 3.45 and has earned Academic All-ACC honors in each of his three years in Chapel Hill.

In addition to his work in the classroom, Maye also leads the Tar Heels on the court this season with averages of 17.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

Past Tar Heels to win the Skip Prosser Award include Tyler Zeller (2011, 2012) and Marcus Paige (2015, 2016).
