Despite not hearing their names called during Thursday’s NBA Draft, reports say that UNC senior big men Isaiah Hicks and Kennedy Meeks are in talks to sign pro contracts as they attempt to make the league as undrafted free agents.
Hicks is expected to join former Tar Heel teammate Brice Johnson with the Los Angeles Clippers, while Meeks is said to have agreed on a deal with the Toronto Raptors.
This news comes after Justin Jackson was selected No. 15 overall by the Sacramento Kings and Tony Bradley was chosen No. 28 overall by the Utah Jazz–meaning there will be plenty of Tar Heels trying to carve out a role during Summer League competition.
Both Meeks and Hicks were key cogs in the frontcourt during UNC’s national title run this past season.
Meeks averaged 12.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for the Tar Heels, with Hicks supplementing that production with 11.8 points and 5.5 rebounds of his own per night.
