A total of six Tar Heels were named Preseason All-Americans on Monday by ILWomen and Inside Lacrosse magazine, with four players earning First Team honors.
Attackers Katie Hoeg and Jamie Ortega join midfielder Kerrigan Miller and defender Emma Trenchard as First Team selections. All four players are either seniors or graduate students.
Hoeg is the all-time leading scorer in UNC history, while Ortega is a two-time First Team All-American who enters the 2021 season ranked fifth on the school’s all-time points list.
The final two Tar Heels recognized by ILWomen were senior goalie Taylor Moreno (Third Team) and senior attacker Scottie Rose Growney (honorable mention).
UNC is ranked No. 1 in the country to begin the year and is scheduled to open the 2021 season at home against James Madison.
