Prior to UNC’s big win at the Smith Center over then No. 14 Virginia in mid-February, the crowd had been getting ready all day long–thanks in large part to the presence of ESPN’s hit show College Gameday.
Well, the crew that includes host Rece Davis and analysts Jay Bilas, Jay Williams and Seth Greenberg will be back in Chapel Hill this weekend–preparing all of America for the season’s second showdown between the Tar Heels and the rival Duke Blue Devils.
The show–which airs at 11 a.m., and has another 8 p.m. edition leading into tip-off–is ending its season at the UNC-Duke game for the ninth time since its inception in 2005.
Not since 2011 has Gameday failed to take part in what is widely acknowledged to be the nation’s best college basketball rivalry.
This will be UNC’s 17th appearance on the show, which is the most of any school all-time.
It will also be the sixth time Gameday has been held inside the Smith Center–ranking third behind Duke and Kentucky, who have each hosted it on seven occasions.
