Former UNC star Harrison Barnes — now with the Sacramento Kings — announced on social media that he has tested positive for coronavirus ahead of the NBA’s restart in Orlando.
Barnes said he tested positive for coronavirus prior to his team’s departure to Orlando and has been primarily asymptomatic.
The NBA announced coronavirus test results Monday. Of 322 players tested since arriving in the Orlando bubble, two were positive and have left the campus to isolate at home or in isolation housing. The league said that since July 1, 19 players have tested positive.
Barnes is the second NBA player in two days to announce they have tested positive for coronavirus. On Monday, Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook announced that he also tested positive prior to the Rockets’ departure to Orlando.
The NBA season is set to resume on Thursday, July 30 from Walt Disney World in Orlando. Barnes and the Sacramento Kings play their first game on July 31 against the San Antonio Spurs.
