UNC designated hitter Aaron Sabato was named earlier this week as the ACC Baseball Freshman of the Year, and also earned a spot on the All-ACC First Team following one of the best seasons by a Tar Heel rookie in recent memory.
Sabato currently leads the team in batting average (.339), hits (65), doubles (20), home runs (13), RBIs (54), total bases (126) and slugging percentage (.656), and has piled up at least two hits in eight of the team’s last nine games.
His 13 home runs are second in program history for a freshman, behind only Chad Flack’s 15 from the 2005 season.
Joining Sabato on the All-ACC teams are outfielder Michael Busch (First Team), starting pitcher Tyler Baum (Third Team) and infielder Danny Serretti (All-Freshman Team).
