The UNC men’s soccer team fell to No. 4 Wake Forest 1-0 on the road Saturday night. The loss drops Carolina to 6-2-4 overall and 1-2-3 in ACC play.

UNC goalkeeper Andrew Cordes made three saves in the first half as Carolina held strong against a potent Demon Deacon attack. Wake Forest doubled up the Tar Heels on shots, 6-3, in the first 45 minutes, but UNC still sent a pair of shots on goal. After the break, Wake quickly took the lead with a goal in the 51st minute and suffocated the Tar Heels from there, not allowing another shot on target for the rest of the evening. Cordes made three more saves to give him a career-high six for the match, but Carolina couldn’t make it count.

UNC has now lost each of its last two ACC matches. The Tar Heels have one final non-conference fixture against William and Mary up next, as the Tribe will visit Chapel Hill on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Conference clashes against Louisville and Virginia will follow that to end the regular season.
