Nearly a million people tuned in to watch the Diamond Heels take on LSU in Monday’s winner-take-all clash at Boshamer Stadium, according to ESPN. The 964,000 viewers are a record for an NCAA Regional game. Monday’s game surpassed the previous mark by more than 200,000 viewers, which had been set just two days before in the first of the weekend’s three games between the Tar Heels and Tigers.

Another game in the Chapel Hill Regional, between Wofford and LSU, drew 678,000 viewers, making it the fourth-most-watched game of the weekend. Three of the four most-watched games were played at Boshamer Stadium.

It was all part of the most-watched NCAA Regional round across all sites in the network’s history.

Carolina won two out of three against the defending national champions – with Monday’s deciding game going to extra innings – to advance to the Super Regional round against West Virginia this weekend in Chapel Hill. All three of the games against the Mountaineers will be aired on ESPN2 (the third will only be played if the two teams split Games 1 and 2).

The first game of the Super Regional against West Virginia is scheduled for Friday night at 6 p.m.
