UNC Athletics is teaming up with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and the V Foundation for Cancer Research to host Dribble for Victory Over Cancer on the Carolina campus for the second straight year. This year’s event is scheduled for September 10, with proceeds supporting pediatric cancer research at the UNC Children’s Research Institute.
“UNC Children’s is proud and honored to partner with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and the V Foundation,” said Keela Lyon, Senior Executive Director of Development and Communications at UNC Children’s Hospital. “Kids with cancer need as much support as we can muster and this event has demonstrated that it can inspire the public to contribute to pediatric cancer research.”
Registration and festivities will begin at 10 a.m. at Carmichael Arena. A welcome ceremony is set for 11 a.m., and the Dribble for Victory starts at 11:15 a.m. Participants will dribble along side UNC men’s and women’s basketball players up to the Old Well, over to the Bell Tower and then back to Carmichael Arena. The Dribble for Victory began on the campuses of UCLA and St. John’s 16 years ago, and since then it has raised more than $2 million for pediatric cancer research.
