As much action as was happening on the field between UNC and Appalachian State football Saturday afternoon, there was plenty of action on social media too.
The Tar Heels eked out a 63-61 victory over the Mountaineers on the road in dramatic style. The game featured several touchdowns in the final minutes, as well as onside kicks, penalties and mistakes by both teams.
Carolina’s win snapped a five-game losing streak on the road, but the game itself set several other records, as shared by national and local writers.
Can confirm UNC and App State have achieved the first 63-61 score in FBS history

I don't know if I can actually confirm, but it's gotta be. Would have broke this record if it got the 2 at the end https://t.co/t0kESuuHs2 pic.twitter.com/sOwnM6KcoA

After the win, UNC Football took to Twitter to say, “You may never see anything like it again.” The graphic brought out a mix of clever, impassioned and exhausted responses from college football fans.
this is like waking up from surgery to hear your doctor laughingly say "well that was different!" https://t.co/QwAOqmvAW8

In a game that featured a little bit of everything, some UNC and football fans just wanted to share some jokes to follow along.

The tape of the 2022 North Carolina Appalachian State regular season football game should only be viewed by those with the proper security clearance, and when disposed of should only be stored in a rated nuclear waste facility.
