The UNC men’s basketball team will face one of the most challenging road environments in the country in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge next season. The program announced Friday it would travel to Indiana to face the Hoosiers for the annual event on November 30.
This will be the fifth time the Tar Heels and Hoosiers have faced off as part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Four of the previous meetings came in Assembly Hall in Bloomington. Carolina defeated Indiana in 2004, but lost to the Hoosiers in 2012 and 2016. UNC went on to win the national championship following the 2004 and 2016 games. Indiana is now tied with Michigan State for the most frequent ACC-Big Ten Challenge matchup for the Tar Heels.
Indiana is one of only two programs in the country to have a winning record against UNC after a minimum of 10 games. The Hoosiers are 9-6 all-time against Carolina and have won four of the last six meetings. Carolina’s most recent win against Indiana came in the Sweet 16 of the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
The Tar Heels are just 11-12 all-time in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, but did notch a 72-51 win against Michigan in last season’s event. It was UNC’s largest margin of victory in the Challenge in 12 years.
