The Diamond Heels scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on their way to a 14-3 win against Queens at Boshamer Stadium Wednesday evening. The game ended after a two-run home run from Hunter Stokely in the bottom of the eighth brought the 10-run rule into effect.

The two teams had entered the fourth inning tied at 3-3, with Queens tagging UNC starter Folger Boaz for a run in the first and two in the third. An Alex Madera two-run home run and a Jackson Van De Brake sacrifice fly gave UNC its three runs.

Madera began the Carolina rally in the fourth with a one-out single, after which he stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error. He scored on a Sam Angelo single, and Angelo then advanced to second on a single from Carter French. The next seven Diamond Heel batters would all reach base, though only one did so via an extra-base hit. Van De Brake, Stokely, Madera, Kane Kepley and Gavin Gallaher would all record RBIs before the inning was over, after which UNC led 12-3.

The score stayed that way until the eighth, when Stokely stepped to the plate and hit his run-rule walk-off. It was the 13th hit of the day for UNC.

Stokely and Madera combined for six hits, six RBIs and five runs scored, while Van De Brake collected three RBIs of his own. On the mound, Camron Seagraves earned his second win with 3.1 scoreless, one-hit innings and seven strikeouts.

The win improves the Diamond Heels to 35-10 overall and 23-5 at home this season. The team will be off this coming weekend as it breaks for final exams and will return to action when it hosts Campbell at Boshamer Stadium next Tuesday at 6 p.m.
