Reigning ACC Player of the Year and Jerry West Award winner R.J. Davis officially announced his return to Carolina for a fifth and final season of college basketball early Wednesday morning. Reports had been circulating of Davis’ return since the previous week, but Davis had not addressed his future until a post to his YouTube channel and Instagram.

Fans quickly took to social media to celebrate Davis’ return.

Davis’ return means the Tar Heels have three potential scholarship spots available on their roster for the 2024-25 season. Isaac Schade broke it down on his Twitter page:

Carolina will host Rutgers transfer Clifford Omoruyi on an official visit to campus on Thursday.
