The Oakland Athletics announced Wednesday night that they will be calling up former UNC star outfielder Skye Bolt to their major league roster, which will be his first time in the big leagues.

Bolt was a fourth round draft choice by the Athletics in 2015, following a stellar three-year career in Chapel Hill where he played a large role in helping the Tar Heels reach the 2013 College World Series.

The Georgia native has been playing for the Las Vegas 51’s in Triple A this season. To this point, Bolt has a .325 batting average and six home runs at that level.

Oakland is currently getting set for a three-game series on the road against the Pittsburgh Pirates, a team that has Colin Moran–one of Bolt’s former UNC teammates–on its roster.
