UNC men’s basketball head coach Hubert Davis was named to the coaching staff for the 2025 USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team training camp in Colorado next month. The camp will begin June 14 in preparation for the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup in Switzerland later in the summer.
Davis will serve as a court coach during the camp, alongside Alabama’s Nate Oats and Kentucky’s Mark Pope. Leading the U19 National Team is Arizona’s Tommy Lloyd as head coach, with Texas Tech’s Grant McCasland and Notre Dame’s Micah Shrewsberry as assistants.
The age groups of players invited to the camp are rising high school seniors, incoming college freshmen and rising college sophomores.
This will be Davis’ first time coaching players for international competition. He will begin his fifth season as UNC’s head coach this coming fall. Included among the players invited to the camp are several who were recruited by Davis to play at UNC, including No. 1 incoming freshman A.J. Dybantsa. Dybantsa considered both UNC and Alabama in his recruitment before committing to BYU.
Team USA has won the gold medal in the FIBA U19 World Cup eight times, most recently in 2021.
