Former UNC star forward Rasheed Wallace was named the head boys’ basketball coach at Jordan High School in Durham on Friday morning

After two seasons at UNC in 1994 and 1995, Wallace was drafted No. 4 overall by the Washington Bullets in the 1995 NBA Draft and went on to spend 16 years in the pros with the Bullets, Portland Trailblazers, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.

This represents Wallace’s first head coaching job of any kind.

He is taking over a program at Jordan that went 7-17 and 1-9 in conference play this past season under former coach Kim Annas.
