Welcome to “Thriving in Orange!” A monthly segment presented by Orange County Economic Development, “Thriving in Orange” features conversations with local business owners about what it’s like to live and work in Orange County, especially in light of the county’s small business grant program which launched in 2015 and has helped small businesses and small business owners with well over $100,000 in grants each year!
This month, 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck has a conversation with Kevin Murphy and Gee Rege of Tempo Brew! Tempo’s mindfully-crafted cold brew has been beloved across the Triangle since 2021 — and with roots in Hillsborough, Tempo keeps things local!
“Cold brew coffee is essentially coffee that’s brewed at room temperature, or lower, for upwards of eight hours,” said Rege. “There’s absolutely no heat in the brewing process, and what that allows is, because there’s no heat, it’s higher in natural sugars, it’s lower in bitterness and lower in acidity than hot brewed coffee. So, at Tembo Brew, we make authentically cold brewed coffee that has only natural ingredients. It has no additives, no sugar, no preservatives at all.”
