Welcome to the Small Surprise Spotlight, presented by Alamance County Visitors Bureau. We’re uncovering hidden gems in Alamance County that might be closer than you think!

This month’s feature is The Burke Manor Inn nestled in the lovely historic town of Gibsonville. Lori Lacassagne recently shared more about the Inn she operates with her husband in the December Small Surprise Spotlight on 97.9 The Hill:

1. How did you get started as a business owner? What made you want to own/operate The Burke Manor Inn?

We owned Saint Jacques French Cuisine in Raleigh from 2004 – 2015, but knew we wanted to have a full service property that would showcase our food and “servant souls”.

2. Why was Alamance County the best location when you decided to open your business?

We fell in love with the Burke Manor and surrounding areas – being so close to Elon University and really being “in the middle” of the Triad and Triangle with so many various places of interest, businesses, etc.

3. What do you think is the most unique thing about your business? What makes you different?

Of course – our true French Food and our amazing staff who pride themselves in their service.

4. If someone was taking a day trip to Alamance County, other than dinner at Burke Manor Inn, what would you recommend they do?

Check out all the wonderful small towns! Mebane, Graham, Burlington, Elon, Gibsonville, Saxapahaw – you need to see them all. In Graham I recommend visiting Alamance Arts. Saxapahaw is a great place to enjoy lunch and float the Haw River, and Elon University campus is just beautiful. There are fabulous local wineries (like last month’s feature – Iron Gate Winery!) There are also great nature trails to explore and if you love shopping – the antiquing in Alamance is unmatched!

5. What’s something about Alamance County that most people don’t know?

All the wonderful small towns have something unique to offer. They’re easy to travel between, so you can easily try something new in each place!

6. What is your favorite thing on the Burke Manor Inn Menu?

It’s a toss up between our French Onion Soup and our Warm Goat Cheese Salad… but if we’re talking dessert, the crème brûlée of course!

7. How do you hope to see your business grow?

We want to continue to assist couples to create their special wedding day by providing exceptional food & service & venue! We hope we can continue to bring people to Gibsonville and the surrounding areas to experience some uniqueness and joy in their lives.
