Long before he became chairman of the Piedmont Health Board of Directors, Pastor Reggie Tyson heard about its community health services from a member of his congregation, Karen Frazier, who had gone to work for the non-profit. Frazier told Reverend Tyson that Piedmont Health and its providers and pharmacists valued patient care far more than making money.

After getting to know some of the Piedmont Health administrators and providers, Reggie Tyson was asked to consider joining the Board of Directors, which already had great diversity. At his introductory meeting, Reverend Tyson saw board members from all races, ethnic and social backgrounds. They took his questions seriously and answered them all with great honesty.

As Pastor of the A.M.E. Zion Church in Oxford and the Chatham County Magistrate, Reggie Tyson joined the Board of Directors in 2014 and his contributions made him the perfect candidate to become chairman in 2020. He was proud to become the only member of the board from Chatham County, where Piedmont Health has one of its two PACE SeniorCare Centers.

In his job as the local Magistrate, former parole officer and a lifelong resident of Chatham County, Pastor Reggie Tyson has discovered many people who are in need of the community services that Piedmont Health offers. And despite not having the money to pay for medical care, Piedmont makes sure all underserved patients get all of the treatments and medication they need.
