Chapel Hill Tire and 97.9 The Hill WCHL, both founded in Chapel Hill circa 1953, have been pillars of the Triangle community for seven decades. To celebrate their 70th anniversary, both Chapel Hill Tire and 97.9 The Hill WCHL —with the support of The Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership — want to show their appreciation to the community for 70 years of patronage and support by bringing the community together for an unforgettable birthday celebration.

The “Tires & Tunes: 70th Birthday Bash! A Chapel Hill Celebration at Midway” will occur from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 26 on and around North Graham Street, just north of the intersection with W. Franklin Street. It will feature live performances by two acclaimed and popular local artists, Jesse Fox & The Shoaldiggers, as well as the Midway Market, show cars on display, and car washes offered by Chapel Hill Tire at their 502 W. Franklin Street location.

There will be food and beverages offered for sale by many local establishments including Al’s Burger Shack, IP3, The Baxter, Lapin Bleu, Beer Study and Local 506.  Many local businesses on N. Graham and W. Franklin will be open for business and offer in-store activities and special sales.

Event attendees can join the bands in singing “Happy Birthday” at 4 p.m. with Town of Chapel Hill officials, past and current radio personalities, Marc Pons, Aaron Keck, and many others.

“Chapel Hill Tire is grateful to have served Chapel Hill and the Triangle for 70 years,” says Marc Pons, president of Chapel Hill Tire. “We are thrilled to share this milestone with our friends at 97.9 The Hill WCHL. We are so excited to celebrate our 70th anniversary with them in a way that will also help support the many downtown businesses in our community. We hope everyone will join us for this milestone celebration!”
