The Town of Hillsborough previously had some snags in its flag locations after Duke Energy prevented the town from flying flags on its electrical poles. Now, Hillsborough is pivoting to flying banners through town instead.
While the Hillsborough train station project is chugging along, one initial element has now been dropped from its plans. The initial scope of the project was for the building to be “net-zero,” but that was leading to additional costs in the budget for the project.
Hillsborough is looking for public input on its comprehensive sustainability plan. The plan will guide future development and clean energy by updating the town’s existing framework.

With one member recused, the Hillsborough Historic District Commission unanimously denied the Colonial Inn’s owner the approval he sought to demolish the building.
