Much of central North Carolina is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 p.m. Monday, March 12, and that has caused some local school districts to alter schedules.
Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools will close two hours early with elementary schools dismissing at 12:30 p.m., middle schools at 1:10 p.m. and high schools at 1:55 p.m. Pre-K students who use direct transportation will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. All after school activities have been canceled.
Chatham County Schools will be dismissing at noon.
Durham Public Schools will close two hours early for students and staff and all after-school activities have been canceled.
Orange County Schools will be dismissing early with elementary schools closing at 11 a.m., middle schools at noon and high schools at 12:30 p.m.
Durham Tech will close all campuses at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, and all afternoon and evening campus activities have been canceled.
UNC is operating under Condition 1 until 10 p.m. Monday, March 12, meaning classes will be held as scheduled and operations are generally normal, but “employees, faculty, and students should consider their own personal circumstances to determine whether to report late, leave early, or not report at all.” The university is also on spring break.
The DMV office in Hillsborough closed shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, March 12.
The Orange County Clerk of Superior Court’s office closed at 1 p.m. Monday, March 12.
Orange County Government offices closed at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12.
All Orange County Government meetings – Board of Adjustment, Commission for the Environment, Human Relations Commission and Arts Commission – for Monday, March 12, have been postponed.
The Root Cellar will close at 5 p.m. Monday, March 12.
Southern Season at University Place will close at 5 p.m. Monday, March 12.
Weather officials say that a mixture of rain, sleet and wet snow could cause slippery road conditions and reduced visibility.
