UNC leadership provided the latest update in its Carolina Together campaign to prepare students, faculty and the Carolina community for the upcoming academic year.

In a message from Provost Bob Blouin on Thursday, the university shared details on how classroom settings will operate this school year amid the coronavirus pandemic. UNC created a video to demonstrate how seats will be placed in designated spots or roped off to create at least six feet of space between every person in a classroom. It also details how hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes will be made available in academic halls, as well as the implementation of signs to control foot traffic.

Students and faculty will be required to wear face coverings while in academic halls and classrooms, according to the university. Masks are part of UNC’s Community Standards and University Guidelines that everyone on campus must adhere to, with distribution sites set up around campus to help people without a face covering.

Such requirements are in place for visitors to campus as well. In Thursday’s update, UNC also shared a new Frequently Asked Questions page for community members living in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and around the university. The page has responses to some of the most pressing questions asked of the university leading up to the start of the fall semester.

Another web page the whole community can use is expected to be launched by the start of the new semester on August 10. The university said a public dashboard, with regularly updated information and metrics on campus guidelines, public health and hospital capacity, the availability of testing and more, will be shared soon.
